Established in 1976 by royal decree, the Saudi Real Estate Company Al Akaria is partly owned by the Public Investment Fund and the Public Pension Agency as majority shareholders. The company went public in January 1993.

The Annual General Assembly is usually held in March or April each year at the discretion of Al Akaria's Board of Directors. The exact date is announced on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) website. Relevant proxy materials are sent to shareholders one month before the meeting.
